On 11th September 2021 a delegation of WOMESA (Women in the Maritime Sector in Eastern & Southern Africa ) Kenyan Chapter paid a courtesy call to the CEO Lamu Shipping Ltd. Capt. Khamis.
The delegation was led by WOMESA Chairperson Fiona Mbandi . Others were Betty Makena, Winnie Maina, Jaqueline Omayiro, and Fatma Kisiwa . Erick Ongere Engineer Superintendent and Mohamed Hassan , Operations Manager also attended from Lamu Shipping. The delegation briefed the CEO on WOMESA and expressed their appreciation for the opportunities offered to female cadets onboard AMU 1
